Top 3 improvements for beginning writers

The other day I received a comment asking me about my suggestions for a beginning author. This person wanted to know more about the writing of blogs, a how-to-write for beginners.

Not that I am an expert, but the top three that come to my mind encompass this meta-view of writing and knowledge.

First of all: BE REAL (in ‘expensive’ English known as authenticity)

Readers smell bullshit a mile away.

Write from your heart, combine this with your soul, and add that dash of wisdom and knowledge that only you possess. Yes, I know I sound a bit fluffy here. When your read more of my blogs, you will discover that my authentic self sometimes embraces more esoteric ideas, with that bit of precociousness, or rather dry wit (at least, I hope it comes across like that).

I like to research and present a larger concept that hopefully emboldens people to either act or think. I think I know what people want, depending on the audience (the next suggestion below). I suggest that you figure out what your essence is and work with that in your writing.

Secondly: BE MINDFUL (think about the public)

Your audience represents your fan base. You want to get to know them and understand what motivates them to read and want to learn. Or simply enjoy reading!

There are as many people out there who will search specifically as those who will stumble upon your subject matter. Know what you know and share in a thoughtful manner.

Empower others is one of my mottos.

And third: BE BRAVE (or draft, draft, and re-draft)

Nobody — absolutely not one single person, not even AI — writes a perfect text the first time around.

Sleep on it.

Re-read and slash one-sixth of it: this is admittedly the hardest part for ALL of us.

Have someone else read it and give you honest feedback.

Work diligently to incorporate this.

Finally, take a deep breath and publish.

I wish all aspiring folks out there lots of luck with lots of hard work. Solidarity!
